This section examines the possibility that the soul’s journey extends across multiple lifetimes. This possibility, called reincarnation, is one of the most intriguing and debated ideas in religion and spirituality. This idea often appears in NDE testimonies. The chapters of this section describe how reincarnation might work, including ideas such as karma, planning a lifetime, memory, suffering, moral accountability, and spiritual growth. The chapters also provide practical advice for understanding past-life clues, such as childhood memories or personal talents. The chapters also consider how different religions treat reincarnation, including hints of the belief in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Traditionally, these three major religions have not emphasized reincarnation and, indeed, they have long denied the possibility. Nevertheless, hints of reincarnation can be found in the sacred scriptures of all three religions, there are sects that do accept reincarnation, and today growing numbers of Jews, Christians, and Muslims are amenable to the idea.
